Reporting to the System Integration and Validation Manager, the Lab Operations and Test Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of a small satellite communications test lab.

The incumbent ensures the reliability and readiness of lab infrastructure, leads test planning and execution, and upholds quality and safety standards. In addition, the incumbent provides technical support to remote users, assisting with system setup and troubleshooting, while maintaining clear and thorough documentation and communication across teams.

Location: In office located in Granby

 

The main responsibilities are: 

Lab Operations and Maintenance:

  • Oversee the daily operations of a small test office, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Ensure lab infrastructure is operational, secure, and aligned with safety and quality standards.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of testing equipment and supplies, ensuring availability and proper maintenance.

Test Planning and Execution:

  • Conduct and oversee the execution of various tests, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure all tests meet the required standards.
  • Coordinate and schedule testing activities, ensuring optimal use of resources and adherence to timelines.
  • Assist remote users in configuring test setups, providing technical support and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Ensure remote test setups are correctly configured and functioning properly.

Analysis, Reporting, and Collaboration:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on testing activities, outcomes, and any issues encountered.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with remote users to address any concerns and provide updates.
  • Document test procedures, results, and recommendations in detailed technical reports.
  • Analyze test results, identify issues, and collaborate with engineers to resolve them.

Assume all related responsibilities.

 

COMPETENCY PROFILE AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS’

Education/Experience/Certification

  • Technical degree in telecommunications or a related field (testing computer devices, etc.).
  • 2-3 years of experience in test execution and providing remote technical support.
  • Hands-on experience with Radio Frequency equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Familiarity with testing equipment and procedures is an asset.
  • Experience with GEO/MEO/LEO systems, or satellite gateways is an asset.
  • Experience with IoT devices and tests OTA is an asset. 

Other qualifications

  • Knowledge of standards such as 3GPP LTE, WiFi, etc. Is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Test Management Tools such as X-RAY or other.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and test specifications.
