Reporting to the System Integration and Validation Manager the Systems Operations Specialist is responsible for the operational excellence of the lab environment, which supports IoT and satellite phone testing. 

The incumbent ensures that lab infrastructure, equipment, and automation tools are effectively designed, implemented, and maintained to support rigorous testing and validation activities.

Location : Onsite in office located in Montréal. 

 

The main responsibilities are:  

Test Environment Design & Automation

  • Develop and implement test setups for 3GPP IoT and satellite devices.
  • Create and maintain Python scripts to automate testing and data collection.
  • Integrate automation tools with lab infrastructure for efficient validation.

Lab Infrastructure & Network Management

  • Design and maintain the lab’s IP connectivity and network architecture.
  • Ensure secure, reliable access for all systems and maintain up-to-date documentation.

Equipment Management & Maintenance

  • Organize, track, and maintain lab equipment and inventory.
  • Oversee calibration, firmware updates, and maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance.

CI/CD Pipeline Management

  • Ensure a robust and operational CI/CD pipeline for test automation and deployment workflows.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers to integrate and maintain CI/CD processes aligned with acceptance criteria.

Assume all related tasks. 

 

COMPETENCY PROFILE AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a lab or systems operations environment.
  • Experience with IP networking and lab infrastructure design.
  • Experience with lab management tools or asset tracking systems.
  • Experience in managing CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, etc.), integrating automated tests, collaborating with external suppliers, and deploying secure continuous integration environments in a lab/DevOps context.

Other qualifications

  • Experience in 3GPP environments (UE and network).
  • Knowledge of Linux-based systems and embedded device testing.
  • Familiarity with power injection tools and USB communication protocols.
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation.
  • Familiarity with IoT and RF/satellite communication technologies is a strong asset.
